But not all State will implement the 'not certified, no work' policy for pharmacy technicians despite the very alarming news spreading. Securing a certification should be a priority by the pharmacy technicians even though the State doesn't require it yet. There are highly respected certifying organizations that awards certifications to those who will pass their certification examination. Passing a certification exam is also a personal achievement for most pharmacy technicians.

Medication errors are not solely pharmacy technician's responsibility; it is also a pharmacist's responsibility because they are the one who needs to make sure everything is being done correctly. Although pharmacists have their own work to do, which these days involve more direct patient care, they still need to oversee the work the technicians are performing. However, pharmacy technicians with sufficient certification will most likely do their tasks and responsibilities well. Certified pharmacy technicians are more reliable because they are trained to work efficiently in pharmacy.

Quality training provides a classroom type of learning plus actual or hands-on exercises related to pharmacy work. Classroom component includes lessons in pharmacology, pharmacy law and ethics, pharmaceutical terminology, and various aspect of pharmacy work. You can also expect that an on the job training will be provided through out the training. Majority of the pharmacy technician works in a pharmacy; this is also where you will be having your hands on exercises. Such training programs will increase your chances of passing the pharmacy technician certification exam and getting a job faster. Just be sure that the program you took is an accredited one.
